Chess Match played over twitter. Relayed on FICs.
Move 9. {Normally black would have castled by this point, but the opportunity to grab space and disconnect white’s pieces was too good to pass up.}
Re1 = Looks like a draw.
@Gil Baron
If black has managed to equalize in this position then it is black who is has the initiative. White has not gained an edge for its first move and in fact has lost space. His white bishop is out of the game. And the black bishop will probably be traded off.
We are far from a draw game, but I agree the position is equal with slight edge for black.
Wonderful to do such a thing. Of all the things I have read about in chess culture and chess history, I miss adjournments most. (I care not about the influence of machines — I prefer the sportsmanship that adjournments proffer to the viewing public.) A real player should be able to restrain himself–the goal is not merely the win, but a beautiful, instructive game that in the end improves the endgame understanding of both the players.
@Frank
What are the time controls?
I have recently learned that my opponent is in Sweden, so we have a bit of a time difference. This game will probably go on for several days.
